How many times have you found yourself wishing you could go on vacation, but you just couldn’t afford it? We’ve found ourselves in that situation a lot in the last few years due to the economy and Hubby’s job situation. In fact Hubby finally found a job in September after being laid off for a year, and we were finally getting back on our feet financially. We thought we would finally be able to take an “off season” vacation this year because it’s so much cheaper to find rentals in the off season. Unfortunately Hubby got laid off again last week. Thankfully it’s only a temporary lay off this time while they wait a couple weeks for a new job to start up (which unfortunately happens a lot in construction), but that means what little cash we would have set aside for a winter vacation is now gone. Oh well, maybe next year!
Seriously, though, if you’ve found yourself needing a vacation, but you can’t afford the in season prices taking a vacation in the off season can be just a great! Whether you’re looking for a cold atmosphere or warm, there are plenty of places out there you might not have considered visiting before that are perfect for off season vacations. The best part is that rentals, both hotels and rental homes, come at a much cheaper price, and many stores in tourist areas run off season sales to drum up business! Another great plus is that off season means there will be less people to deal with, so many times you may get to take a tour or explore an area without fighting off droves of other tourists!
So, next time you’re planning a vacation you may want to save some money and rethink what time of year you choose to go!
